Since April of this year, President and Founder, of Media Partners for Pets and Dalmatian Rescue, Ann Herrington has "spear-headed" a campaign to give Disney the opportunity to educate people about the plight of these animals after the last movie caused a proliferation of Dalmatians who were abandoned and killed in shelters across the country. Statistics showed that there was an increase in the problem of homeless Dalmatians after the 1996 Release of Disney's "101 Dalmatians" anywhere from 25% - 600% in some areas.

After contacting Disney along with the HSUS, and being told to "fax a proposal immediately as the executives would meet the next day" they were "strung" along by Disney for months until they finally got the" boot" and were told they would not going to "work with them". Disney was approached and in some cases received hate mail because of the result of the last movie.

People breeding Dalmatians to feed the "hungry" public who wanted to run out and adopt a Dalmatian puppy after seeing the cute trained ones in the last movie. Humane organizations and rescue groups tried to reason with Disney last time and were even told that there would be a message at the end of the movie..but there was not. They say they "do not give to charities" but who's asking them to. We just want them to take responsibility for what they continue to perpetuate off the backs of these animals. Just check out the website with 1000's of Dalmatian items for sale. Then there are the "live-action" movies, the cartoons, the video sales and so on and so on..all this continues as they know what keeps happening to this breed.

Famous "Price is Right" host Bob Barker feels so strongly about not using these animals in this movie anymore that he recorded a PSA with Media Partners for Pets to help educate the public. Check it on on MPP's website at www.mediapartnersforpets.org

Well, we cannot allow this to go on any longer so we must tell the story that Disney will not and ask them to be responsible. On Monday, August 28th at 11am, there will be a Press Conference held on the sidewalk in front of Walt Disney Studios with the following speakers:

Ann Herrington, President, Media Partners for Pets
Elliott Katz, President, In Defense of Animals
Randy Warner, Founder, Dalmatian ResQ
Ryan Courtade, 14 year old President/Founder, Love All Animals
